This Chicken Bulgogi recipe, also known as Dak Bulgogi in Korean, is one of the best chicken dishes you’ll ever try. It’s simple and quick to prepare, and it cooks perfectly in an air fryer, on the grill, or in a skillet. You’ll find it to be one of the easiest and most delicious chicken recipes around!

HOW TO MAKE EASY CHICKEN BULGOGI RECIPE

Ingredients

  • 8 boneless skinless chicken thighs

For the Chicken Bulgogi Marinade:

  • ¼ Korean pear
  • 1 stalk green onion
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ inch ginger

Optional:

  • 1 tablespoon gochujang for added spice

Instructions

  • 1. Make the Marinade:
  • In a blender, combine all the marinade ingredients and blend until smooth.
  • Tip: If you prefer a spicy kick, add the gochujang.
  • 2. Marinate the Chicken:
  • Place the chicken thighs and marinade in an airtight container.
  • Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for the best flavor.
  • 3. Cooking Methods:
  • Air Fryer:
    • Remove the air fryer rack and preheat it to 385°F (195°C) on air fry mode.
    • Place the chicken and marinade in the air fryer basket.
    • Cook for 25 minutes, flipping the chicken a couple of times to achieve a nice caramelized crust.
  • Pan Fry:
    • In a large skillet or wok, heat over medium-high heat.
    • Pan-fry the chicken for 7 minutes on each side until a crust forms.
    • Add the marinade and continue cooking until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Grill:
    • Preheat the grill and cook the chicken on low heat for about 8 minutes on each side until fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Notes

  • Marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for optimal flavor.
  • For a spicier dish, include gochujang.
  • You can double the recipe and freeze some for later use.
  • To prevent mushy meat, avoid marinating for longer than 24 hours and freeze after that time.
